The Chair of the Irish Cardiac Society EP Subgroup is Prof. David Keane.
Aims and Objectives
Organisation of educational meetings on cardiac arrhythmias and electrophysiology, collaboration on research activities, and coordination of EHRA activities in Ireland.
Meetings
The main annual meeting takes place each year at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Irish Cardiac Society.

The Chairs of the Irish Cardiac Society Intervention Subgroup are Prof. Aaron Peace and Prof. Tom Kiernan.

Organisation of educational meeting and case competition as past of Annual Scientific Meeting of the Irish Cardiac Society.
Represents the society on all issues relating to Heart Failure nationally and
internationally.
Imaging Subgroup
Aims and Objectives
Organisation of educational meeting and case competition as past of Annual Scientific Meeting of the Irish Cardiac Society.
Represents the society on all issues relating to Imaging nationally and internationally.
DIE(B) – Diversity Inclusion, Equity & Belonging Subgroup
The Irish Cardiac Society Strategic Plan (2022-2027) includes Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging [DEI (B)] as one of its key foundations.
In May 2025, Prof Brendan McAdam set up a DEI (B) sub-committee with the following members: Helen Cooney, Barbra Dalton, Sinead Hughes, Tora Leong, and Pascal McKeown (Chair).
Key areas for development have been identified and the following progress has been made:
- Exploration of opportunities for collaboration with international partners, including American College of Cardiology, British Cardiovascular Society and European Society of Cardiology
- Attendance at the ESC RISE meeting
- Review of British Cardiovascular Society approaches to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Initial review of existing data sets
- Attendance at ACC LGBTQ+ research webinar – Heart Health For Every Identity: Advancing CV Research in the LGBTQ+ Community
- International Session: Women and Cardiovascular Disease – Annual Scientific Meeting, Killarney, 17 October 2025
Plans
- Agree Mission Statement
- Expand group, including need to include Cardiology trainees
- Propose to have a DEI (B) session at the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting
- Undertake a more comprehensive review of data sets
- Formulate an action plan
